TIA Honors Assocation Leader and Long-Time Engineering Committee Chair Fred Lucas

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) recently recognized Fred Lucas upon his retirement from TIA's leadership. Mr. Lucas serves as an Advisor to the TIA Board of Directors (2003-Present),  TIA Division Chair for User Premises Equipment (2003-Present), and Chair of TR-30 Telecommunications Multi-Media Access, Protocols and Interfaces Engineering Committee.

His history with the committee extends to before TIA was formed, into the days when the standards were housed at the Electronics Industry Association. He is a highly respected and recognized leader in multi-media access, protocols and interfaces. 

TR-30 has benefited from Mr. Lucas’s broad knowledge of telecommunications and data communications systems as well as his insight, experience, and skill in voluntary consensus industry standards work. As a member of the Technical Committee, Mr. Lucas’ in-depth knowledge of standardization procedures and processes guided TIA through multiple full revisions of its standards operating procedures. Over the past decade he has provided valuable insight and expertise as an advisor to the TIA Board and the Chair of the User Premises Equipment Division. 

The information and communications technology industry has been well served by Fred’s outstanding service. On behalf of the Technical Committee and the members of TR-30, we sincerely commend Fred Lucas for his outstanding leadership, extensive technology expertise, and many years of devotion to the standards industry.
