Following Court Ruling, TIA Vows to Continue Challenging FCC’s Net Neutrality Regime

TIA Seeks to Stop Investment Losses and Economic Damage by Working Through Both the Courts and Congress

Arlington, Va. (June 11, 2015) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today commented on the U.S. Court of Appeals for D.C. Circuit’s ruling against motions filed to stay an FCC order that reclassifies the Internet as a Title II utility.

TIA CEO Scott Belcher issued the following statement:

“While it is disappointing that the court declined to stay the FCC’s implementation of its net neutrality order, it is important to recognize that this is just one battle in the industry’s fight. Under light regulatory rules, the Internet has produced tremendous value for consumers and delivered remarkable innovation and economic growth for our country. There is no good reason to now have the Internet governed under antiquated and onerous regulations that will harm investment and create uncertainty for the communications industry and economy. For this reason, we will continue to challenge the FCC's regulatory regime — both in the courts and by working with members of Congress on both sides of the aisle. Our next step will be to file an amicus brief with the Court on why the FCC’s actions were unlawful, and we continue to believe that the Court will ultimately invalidate these rules."
