From Auto Cybersecurity to Smart Cities, TIA Event to Examine Future of Vehicle Connectivity

December 8th Event with Global Automakers and ITU will Feature Leaders from DOT, Cisco, GM, Panasonic, Qualcomm, Univ. of Michigan, Virginia Tech and Others

Arlington, Va. (October 19, 2015) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) today announced it will hold a special one-day event focused on the future of vehicle connectivity. The event, which will be co-hosted by the Association of Global Automakers and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), will feature experts from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), industry leaders from GM, Cisco, Qualcomm and Panasonic and researchers from Virginia Tech, Texas A&M and University of Michigan, among others.

TIA’s Vehicle Connectivity Workshop will include several panel discussions that address critical issues facing the future of intelligent transportation – including connectivity and network issues, automotive cybersecurity, the role of transportation in smart cities and more.  There will be two keynote speeches, including one by Kenneth M. Leonard, Director of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO).

The event will be held in conjunction with the ITU’s open meeting on Intelligent Transportation System Communication Standards on December 7, 2015 at TIA’s Headquarters.
