Blackburn’s Open Internet Preservation Act Delivers Both Business Predictability and Consumer Protection

Arlington, Va. (December 19, 2017) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech connectivity networks, applauded today’s introduction of The Open Internet Preservation Act, sponsored by House Energy and Commerce Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chairman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN). Cinnamon Rogers, TIA’s Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, issued the following statement:

“TIA welcomes the introduction of legislation to affirm and strengthen the FCC’s recent net neutrality decision. In addition to enshrining into law critical principles of internet openness that consumers demand and that TIA has long supported, it offers a potential end to the political ping pong of the past decade on this issue.  The bill would provide critical regulatory certainty essential for the creation of high-paying manufacturing jobs, increased private sector investment and innovation to the benefit of consumers and businesses in every corner of America.

“Chairman Blackburn has consistently provided leadership to ensure an open internet and to protect the free flow of information. We look forward to working with the Chairman, and all members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, as this legislation moves forward.”
