High-Tech Manufacturers Applaud Senate Passage of E-Warranty Legislation

Arlington, VA (July 10, 2015) - The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today applauded lawmakers in the U.S. Senate for passing legislation to modernize warranty requirements by allowing manufacturers to post warranties online.

The E-Warranty Act of 2015 (S. 1359), introduced by U.S. Senators Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) and Bill Nelson (D-Fla.), was passed unanimously by the Senate yesterday.

TIA CEO Scott Belcher issued the following statement:

“The E-Warranty Act is a win-win for consumers and producers. By allowing product warranties to be posted online instead of printed, consumers will have easy access to important information and technology manufacturers will be able to streamline production, decrease costs, speed time to market and focus on advancing innovations. TIA commends the Senate for passing this common sense legislation and thanks Senators Fischer and Nelson for their leadership on this issue. We urge the House to take quick action on this bipartisan bill and send it to the President’s desk.”
