U.S. Senator Gary Peters Announced as Keynote Speaker, Joining Experts from U.S. DOT, GM, Tech Companies and Universities

Arlington, Va. (December 1, 2015) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) today announced Senator Gary Peters (D-MI) will keynote a special Vehicle Connectivity event on December 8.  

The day-long event, which will be co-hosted by the Association of Global Automakers and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), will also feature a keynote from Kenneth Leonard, Director of the Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO) within the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT). Other panel discussions will include policymakers from the FBI, State Department and USDOT, industry leaders from General Motors (GM), Cisco, AT&T, Qualcomm and Panasonic and researchers from Virginia Tech, Texas A&M and University of Michigan.

TIA’s Vehicle Connectivity Workshop will explore the future of intelligent transportation and challenges facing the industry – including connectivity and network issues, automotive cybersecurity, and transportation in smart cities. The event will be held in conjunction with the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) open meeting on Intelligent Transportation System Communication Standards on December 7, 2015 at TIA’s Headquarters.
