Tech & Telecom Sustainability to be a Major Focus at TIA Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. – October 7-10

“TIA 2013: The Future of the Network” Will Feature Execs, Analysts & Policymakers Discussing Network Issues; Sustainability Track Will Tackle Data Center Efficiency, Green Buildings, Smart Grid & More

Arlington, Va. (August 27, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, said today that a major focus of its flagship conference will be on initiatives to drive down energy use and create greater sustainability within the information and communications technology (ICT) industry. TIA 2013 – which will bring executives, thought leaders, technologists and policymakers to Washington, D.C. on October 7-10 for highly interactive discussions on the industry’s most important issues – will feature an entire educational track dedicated to ICT sustainability.

The ICT sector plays a critical role in enabling savings by driving down the cost of energy in all sectors. TIA 2013 will highlight emerging technological advances, the regulatory environment, and best practices in energy efficient data centers, smart buildings, fuel cell deployment in critical infrastructure, green procurement (EPEAT), the SEC’s conflict mineral rule, and more – helping network operators and equipment suppliers bring increased energy efficiency to their operations.

TIA 2013 will feature conference-wide keynotes on sustainability by Thierry Van Landegem, VP of Global Operations, Bell Labs and Chairman of GreenTouch, and Dr. Chih-Lin I, Chief Scientist of Wireless Technologies for China Mobile Research Institute.  The TIA 2013 Sustainability & ICT Track will feature intensive and interactive sessions along with presentations by dozens of industry-leading scientists,analysts and executives, including:
