Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) Marks the 10th Anniversary of 9/11

Arlington, Va. - To mark the 10th anniversary of the terror attacks of September 11, Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) President Grant Seiffert released the following statement:

"TIA honors the victims, the families, survivors, and the heroes on this day of national remembrance. We will never forget those whose lives were senselessly lost, and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to save others. They forever remain in our hearts and prayers.

"Supporting the public safety community is one of the key aspects of TIA’s mission. TIA member companies are committed to providing the benefits of the latest technology – such as mobility, location identification and information density – to give consumers, businesses, and government the most effective tools to respond in moments of crisis. TIA members are dedicated to contributing to this noble effort through building out public safety networks and manufacturing public safety communications systems, equipment and devices.

"In Washington, TIA continues to strongly advocate for policy initiatives to swiftly develop and implement an interoperable public safety network.

"TIA also acts as a catalyst for the wireless industry to develop and maintain technology standards for digital equipment and systems that will assist the life-saving and damage-control activities of first responders at the scene of an emergency or disaster situation. This activity, known as Project 25 (P25), is supported by industry, government agencies and public safety communications officials.

"As we reflect somberly on the anniversary of this seminal event, TIA and its member companies wish to acknowledge the sacrifices of all who put their lives in harm’s way in service to their communities and country. We pledge our full support to these brave men and women."

Grant Seiffert, President, Telecommunications Industry Association
