TIA’s 2014 Conference on the Network of the Future Showcases Strategies for Spectrum, 5G, Software Defined Networks, Internet of Things and Speed to Market

Conference in Dallas, TX June 3-5, to be Held in Conjunction with AT&T’s Invite-Only Domain 2.0 Workshop

Arlington, VA. (March 17, 2014) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today announced its program for the TIA Network of the Future Conference. TIA 2014 is centered on three distinct program tracks that will offer an in-depth and interactive look at the issues critical to the network’s future: Wireless & 5G Networks; Software Defined Everything (SDx); and Markets & Services (including Big Data & Privacy).

The accelerating adoption of software defined networks and virtualization is revolutionizing global communications through an overhaul of network architectures, business practices, strategies, operations, services and the entire ICT value chain. Speed to market is becoming ever-more critical in adapting to consumer and business demands enabled by mobility, the cloud, big data, open architectures, new applications and services. TIA’s Conference will present unique insights on market directions, technological advances and policy initiatives that will affect business decisions in the next few years.

In conjunction with the TIA Conference, AT&T is hosting an Invite-Only Workshop focused on the User-Defined Network Cloud. The workshop will extend to suppliers an opportunity to learn from AT&T the necessary requirements of adapting to AT&T’s transformative Domain 2.0 initiative. Qualified attendees are invited to register for TIA’s 3-day Network of the Future Conference at tia2014.org; registration will be open by the end of March.

Three primary educational tracks will focus on a) Global development of 5G network technologies; b) software defined networks (SDN); and c) Markets and Services.

Track 1: Wireless & 5G Networks: The advent of mobility, broadband and cloud computing has brought a level of connectivity within society and the enterprise that has transformed communications and business. The strain being placed on today’s networks by mobile video, BYOD, M2M and the Internet of Things will grow ever-more extreme, and is the main driver for smarter and more cost-efficient next-generation mobile networks. This track will highlight new spectrum allocations, 5G radio access technologies and fronthaul/backhaul needs, and carrier aggregation in licensed and unlicensed spectrum.

Track 2: Software Defined Networks: SDN has rapidly emerged as a transformative force reshaping the entire networking and telecommunications landscape. TIA’s Conference will feature a day-long SDN Crash Course and Certification, as well as a view on the role of wireless and mobility in SDN, and the use cases for carrier deployment to achieve the benefits of cost reduction, efficiency and interoperability that this revolutionary technology promises.

Track 3: Markets and Services: As carriers and operators navigate the new opportunities for increased customer loyalty and revenues, they must also examine the pitfalls and challenges brought about by the increased proliferation of data capture and big data analytics. The TIA Conference will examine the area of Big Data and Privacy, introducing the concept of big data ethics. Attendees will hear about Innovation, Investment and Services in Healthcare, as well as the rapid developments in the Connected Car.

TIA’s 3-day Conference program also features keynote presentations, a CTO Roundtable Luncheon, a Disruptors’ Competition and educational programming on:
·         Public Safety and FirstNet
·         Cybersecurity
·         The State of Energy and ICT
·         Internet of Things
·         Skills and Competencies for Tomorrow’s Network
