TIA and Capitoline Announce Licensing Agreement on Data Center Standards Training

Arlington, VA (November 19, 2015) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, and Capitoline Ltd, a leading data center design, audit and training organization, today announced that they have entered into a licensing agreement that allows Capitoline to build and conduct international certified training courses for the ANSI/TIA-942, Telecommunications Infrastructure Standards for Data Centers.

With a major data center suffering a catastrophic failure somewhere in the world every week, data center design and management has become even more critical for successful IT operations and information security management.

TIA-942 remains the world’s most popular data center standard, encompassing data cabling, cabling management, grounding and bonding and much more. The standard has a proven record of providing a flexible and manageable structured cabling system using readily available media.  It offers designers and managers a full suite of modern design tools.

“The TIA-942 standard has proven its value to the industry time over time,” said Stephanie Montgomery, Vice President of Technology and Standards for TIA. “We are pleased to be able to work with and license Capitoline and other training entities to provide quality, standardized training solutions to a changing and challenging industry.  As the cloud continues to grow, the core technology is the data center and TIA-942 is the essential structured cabling system solution.”

The Capitoline courses will initially be launched in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, but with a worldwide license granted to Capitoline, the training will become available to data center professionals worldwide.

“Capitoline started the world’s first data center training in 2005, which coincided with the first release of the TIA-942 standard. Capitoline has been referring to and recommending the TIA-942 standard ever since in our design, audit and training business,” said Barry Elliott, one of the directors and founders of Capitoline. “The TIA-942 design training will join Capitoline’s successful Data Centre Expert (DCE™) certification program. This program is recognized in the US by BICSI for Continuing Education Credits, in the UK by CIBSE for Continuing Professional Development and across Europe as an EQF level 5 qualification.  DCE™ has been adopted as a data center training standard by many organizations including the United Nations for their worldwide data center management requirements.”

About Capitoline

Capitoline, headquartered in the UK, is an independent engineering consultancy specializing in data center design, audit and training. Capitoline started the world’s first data centre training in 2005 and has extensive experience in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Capitoline’s training is unique in that it is only delivered by qualified professional data centre auditors who have extensive hands-on data centre experience. Other data centre training offered around the world is usually diluted through a franchise network. Capitoline, by contrast, is the world’s largest data centre auditing company and a contributor to the European CENELEC data center standards. Capitoline is also member of the TIA and has access to the standards-writing committees. This gives Capitoline a unique insight into both American and European data centre standards.
