TIA Announces Conference on Cabling and Networking Standards to be Held with Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Arlington, VA (December 21, 2017) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, and Cabling Installation & Maintenance (CI&M), the leading media outlet for professionals managing the cable and wireless systems that enable critical communications, are joining forces to present the Cabling & Networking Standards Summit, to be held May 9, 2018 at TIA Headquarters in Arlington, VA.

The Summit will explore disruptive technologies that create demand for standards, and it will also address the industry’s need for a roadmap that aligns networking technologies with the cabling infrastructure to support them. This specialized one-day conference will provide up-to-date information on published and in-progress industry standards, and is targeted to professionals who are responsible for the specification, design, installation, testing and management of structured cabling systems.

“A significant majority of cabling projects require that the installed plant must comply with relevant industry standards and, in many cases, those standards are published by TIA,” said Patrick McLaughlin, Chief Editor of Cabling Installation & Maintenance. “It is incumbent upon all involved in a cabling project—consultants, user organizations, and design-and-installation contractors—to be aware of standards requirements so these jobs can be properly specified and executed. And specifying current standards requirements is critical to ensure a layer-one infrastructure built today will support today’s and tomorrow’s applications. We are eager to bring together key contributors to TIA standards-development committees, who will provide insight into the practical application of cabling standards on the jobsite, enabling cabling professionals to meet their project compliance requirements.”
