Arlington, VA (July 24, 2014) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, applauded U.S. Reps. Bob Latta (R-OH) and Peter Welch (D-VT) for their bipartisan introduction of the Enhance Labeling, Accessing, and Branding of Electronic Licenses Act of 2014 (E-LABEL Act), which is also pending in the Senate.

TIA President Grant Seiffert commented, “As a leader in efforts to modernize and improve device approval processes through such allowances as electronic labeling (eLabeling), TIA commends this effort, which will enhance the ability of information and communications technology (ICT) manufacturers to innovate and compete while increasing access to device information.”

Seiffert continued, “The E-LABEL ACT will allow the ICT industry to take advantage of the natural progression of device labeling in the age of graphical interfaces.   By granting device manufacturers the ability to use eLabels, the legislation will ease the technical and logistical burdens on manufacturers while improving consumer access to important device information. Under the E-LABEL Act, American consumers will be able to access easily readable and prominently displayed information about the devices they use every day.”
