TIA Applauds House Subcommittee Action to Preserve Internet Freedom

ARLINGTON, VA (April 5, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, applauds the House Communications and Technology Subcommittee for taking up a bill next week to oppose efforts by foreign governments to impose new rules on the Internet.  The bill calls for preserving the current multi-stakeholder approach to Internet governance, and elevates the issue from a “Sense of Congress” resolution (passed unanimously last year) into an official statement of U.S. policy.  Passage of this legislation will confirm that the United States can speak with an even stronger voice against any efforts to place Internet governance under the control of a multi-national body.  TIA thanks Chairman Walden, Ranking Member Eshoo, and all members of the House Communications Subcommittee who have championed this important legislation.
