TIA Applauds Introduction of Energy Efficient Government Technology Act in the Senate

Arlington, Va. (June 28, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading trade association for global manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers of information and communications technology (ICT), applauds the introduction of the Energy Efficient Government Technology Act (S. 1261) in the Senate, which will promote energy efficiency in the federal government through the adoption of information and communications technologies.

Co-sponsored by Senator Mark Udall (CO) and Senator Risch (ID), the Energy Efficient Government Technology Act advances policy to utilize ICT to improve energy efficiency.  “Our companies strongly support efforts to harness the multiplier effect of information and communications technology (ICT) to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions,” said Grant Seiffert, TIA President.  “The federal government will realize significant energy efficiency and cost savings through the adoption of the information and communications technologies and best practices enabled by this bipartisan legislation.”
