TIA Applauds Passage of House Cybersecurity Legislation Providing Greater Legal Protections around Information Sharing

Arlington, Va. (Apr. 23, 2015) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today applauded the House of Representatives for passing much-needed cybersecurity legislation – Protecting Cyber Networks Act (H.R. 1560) and the National Cybersecurity Protection Advancement Act of 2015 (H.R. 1731).

Together, these bills will enable greater information sharing from the private and public sectors about cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities, providing networks and users with a stronger defense against hackers.

TIA CEO Scott Belcher issued the following statement:

"Cyber-attacks are not just a threat to our national security, but to Americans’ economic security as well. The cybersecurity legislation passed by the House today provides greater legal protections to those who share critical information about cyber threats and vulnerabilities, encouraging the voluntary sharing of data that will provide networks and users with stronger defenses against hackers."
