TIA Calls for Global Cooperation on Cybersecurity in Advance of Hearings on ICT Supply Chain Security

Arlington, VA (May 20, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading trade association for global manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers of information and communications technology (ICT), today sent a letter to the House Energy & Commerce Committee in advance of Tuesday’s hearings on cybersecurity.  The letter outlines six principles that TIA asks Congress to consider as it looks at ICT supply chain security. To receive a copy of the letter, contact Ashley Rook using the contact information above.

“As the Communications Subcommittee focuses on ICT supply chain issues, it is important for Members of Congress to recognize that the ICT supply chain is global in nature,” said Grant Seiffert, TIA President.  “Companies have strong market incentives to improve supply chain security, with several public-private partnerships and industry efforts already underway.  TIA urges Congress to support standards-based and systemic approaches to cybersecurity, and to recognize that global cooperation is required to achieve effective results.”
