TIA Committed to Working With Congress to Enhance Cybersecurity

Washington, D.C. – With the introduction today of the proposed Cybersecurity Act of 2012, Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) President Grant Seiffert issued the following statement:

"The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and its member companies are committed to working with Congress to enhance our Nation's cybersecurity. While the proposed 'Cybersecurity Act of 2012' introduced today is complex and will require further analysis, we are pleased that the bill's sponsors have recognized primary responsibility for the security of critical infrastructure should lie with the owners and operators of that infrastructure. We are also pleased that the legislation would promote focused research and development of new cybersecurity technologies. The information and communications technology (ICT) industry continues to work aggressively to ensure product security and reliability, and looks forward to further engagement with both the House and Senate as cybersecurity legislation progresses."
