TIA Files Comments with DoD on Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement Addressing Counterfeit Electronic Parts Prevention

ARLINGTON, VA (July 15, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today filed comments with the Department of Defense (DoD) on proposed changes to its Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) on counterfeit electronic parts prevention.

In this filing, TIA stressed to the DoD that clear, accurate, and uniform definitions and accountability are key, and that the information and communications technology (ICT) supply chain is global and therefore requires a global solution.  TIA also discussed the numerous public-private partnerships and industry efforts that are underway and which lend to the detection and elimination of counterfeit products, and urged deference to these best practices and standards.
