TIA Praises FCC Nominees Pai, Rosenworcel and Carr Following Senate Commerce Hearing; Calls for Swift Confirmation

Arlington, VA. (July 19, 2017) – Following today’s Senate Commerce Committee hearing, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, praised the three nominees for open seats on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). TIA said that current Chairman Ajit Pai, former commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel, and former FCC general counsel Brendan Carr should be quickly confirmed by the full Senate for new five-year terms.

Cinnamon Rogers, TIA Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, commented:

“TIA offers full support for the FCC's Chairman Ajit Pai, former commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel, and senior legal advisor Brendan Carr, and calls upon the Senate to move quickly to confirm all three. The FCC tackles crucially important issues such as encouraging broadband deployment and innovation in the network, as well as ensuring spectrum availability for mobile broadband services and to enable 5G and the Internet of Things. We’re confident that all three nominees recognize the value of working with the tech and telecom industries to find common sense, market-driven solutions that allow companies to invest, innovate and create jobs, while ensuring meaningful options and protections for consumers.
