TIA Statement on FCC’s Proposed Spectrum Rules Important to 5G

Arlington, Va. (October 22, 2015) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, released the following statement regarding the FCC’s vote today on proposed rules to open high-band spectrum to broadband applications.

TIA CEO Scott Belcher said: “TIA appreciates the actions taken by the FCC today to open additional spectrum to keep up with exploding demand for mobile broadband services. Enabling broadband in higher bands of spectrum will allow emerging technologies to develop further, including the promise of next-generation 5G networks. However, efforts to open additional lower-band spectrum will also be required to enable the potential of 5G and the Internet of Things. TIA looks forward to reviewing the proposed rules and working with the Commission to refine them in the months ahead.”
