TIA Statement on Spectrum Pipeline Act in Budget Deal
Arlington, Va. (October 27, 2015) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, released the following statement regarding the addition of the Spectrum Pipeline Act in a tentative two-year federal budget agreement.
TIA CEO Scott Belcher said: “The inclusion of the Spectrum Pipeline Act in the bipartisan budget agreement is a noteworthy step towards making more bands of spectrum available for mobile applications. We appreciate that the agreement provides funds to allow federal agencies to plan for future transitions and/or spectrum sharing.
“There is much work to be done as policymakers identify the specific bands of spectrum to be auctioned, determine if those bands can be paired with other spectrum, and manage the complex process of agency transitions. TIA looks forward to continuing our work with Congress towards a more comprehensive solution to ensure that these and other federal spectrum policy decisions ultimately result in the best possible outcomes for consumers, industry, and government alike.”
