TIA Submits Comments to Department of Defense Rule Amending Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement
 
ARLINGTON, VA (January 21, 2014) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, submitted comments on the Department of Defense’s (DoD) interim rule amending the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).  The interim rule considers the impact of supply chain risk in procurements related to national security systems.
 
In its submission on January 17, TIA urged DoD to:
 
(1)  provide clarification as to what is expected of contractors and vendors of information technology, including the role of current certification programs;
 
(2)  ensure a means of fair assessments and an impartial process for addressing its concerns with vendor and contractor supply chains; and
 
(3)  clearly define its standard of review in its process for determining insufficiency of a vendor or contractor supply chain.
