TIA Submits Comments to FCC on Proposed Gigabit Communities Race-to-the-Top Program

ARLINGTON, VA (September 11, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today filed comments with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regarding Fiber-to-the-Home Council’sGigabit Communities Race-to-the-Top Program” proposal.  In its comments, TIA said that it believes that the Fiber-to-the-Home Council’s proposed “Gigabit Communities Race-to-the-Top Program” is a creative mechanism to effectively leverage available resources to increase ultra-high-speed deployment. TIA stated that the program complements the FCC’s E-Rate modernization initiative and builds on the long-range vision of the Commission's National Broadband Plan.”
