TIA Urges Senate to Confirm Wheeler as Next FCC Chairman

Arlington, Va. (June 17, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today urged the Senate to advance Tom Wheeler’s nomination to be the next chairman of the FCC. 

In a letter to Commerce Committee chairman Sen. Jay Rockefeller and ranking member Sen. John Thune on the eve of Wheeler’s confirmation hearing, TIA President Grant Seiffert noted that “throughout his career, Mr. Wheeler has fought to increase competition in the telecommunications marketplace while advocating for consumers.”  The letter also urged the FCC to focus on several key priority areas including voluntary incentive auctions, the IP transition, public safety, universal service reform, accessibility, and simplifying regulations.
