TIA Urges Senate to Send TPA to President's Desk
Arlington, Va. (June 23, 2015) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today urged the Senate to pass the Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities and Accountability Act of 2015. According to TIA, modernizing and renewing Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) will help open the door to new markets for U.S. goods and services, boosting U.S. economic growth and supporting well-paying U.S. jobs.
"Last year, 75 percent and 4 trillion dollars of the total marketplace for global telecommunications equipment and related services was outside the United States,” said TIA CEO Scott Belcher. “TPA is critical for advancing trade agreements that allow American businesses to take full advantage of these opportunities, increase U.S. competitiveness overseas and ensure continued high-tech job growth at home. Today's vote brought us one step closer to realizing these goals, and we stand with other tech and communications industry leaders in urging the Senate to send TPA to the President's desk."
