TIA issues New Enhanced Wireless 9-1-1 Phase II Standard

 

Arlington, VA (June 23, 2017) – The Telecommunications Industry Association, which develops standards for the information and communications technology industry, has released a new document, J-STD-036-C-2 Enhanced Wireless 9-1-1 Phase II.

J-STD-036-C-2 specifies modifications to the industry’s E 9-1-1 (Emergency Services) Phase 2 standard and will add 6 handset and 5 hybrid position source codes for geodetic position reporting. As well as, 3 Class of Service codes for civic address reporting (e.g. street address).

J-STD-036-C-2 was formulated under the cognizance of the TIA TR-45 Mobile and Point-to-Point Communications Standards, TR-45.8 Core Networks - Mobile and Personal Communications Standards subcommittee.
