cyclic distortion

In telegraphy, distortion that (a) is periodic and (b) is not characteristic, not biased, and not fortuitous. (188) Note: Causes of cyclic distortion include irregularities in the duration of contact time of the brushes of a transmitter distributor and interference by disturbing alternating currents.
