disconnect switch

In a power system, a switch used for closing, opening, or changing the connections in a circuit or system or for purposes of isolation. Note: It has no interrupting rating and is intended to be operated only after the circuit has been opened by some other means, such as by a circuit breaker or variable transformer. (188)
