1. To draw energy from a circuit. 2. To monitor, with or without authorization, the information that is being transmitted via a communications circuit. 3. To extract a portion of the signal from an optical fiber or communications link. Note: One method of tapping an optical fiber is to bend it to a relatively short radius, thus promoting radiation of a portion of the optical signal. [After FAA]
