leg

1. A segment of an end-to-end route or path, such as a path from user to user via several networks and nodes within networks. Note: Examples of legs are several sequential microwave links between two switching centers and a transoceanic cable between two shore communications facilities, each connected to a node in a national network. 2. A connection from a specific node to an addressable entity, such as communication link from a computer workstation to a hub.
