Lambertian source

An optical source that obeys Lambert's cosine law. (188) Note: Conventional (surface-emitting) LEDs approximate a Lambertian source. They have a large beam divergence, and a radiation pattern that approximates a sphere. Thus, most of their total optical output is not coupled into communications fibers.
