TIA Issues Call for Interest on new Project for Requirements for Battery-Powered, Portable Land Mobile Radio Applications in Class I, II, and III, Division 1, Hazardous (Classified) Locations
Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.
Arlington VA. (February 23, 2016) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-8.21 Engineering Committee on Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Intrinsic Safety(IS) Consideration has issued a call for interest for document TIA-4950-B initially titled "Requirements for Battery-Powered, Portable Land Mobile Radio Applications in Class I, II, and III, Division 1, Hazardous (Classified) Locations". This revision will consider an expansion of scope of the standard to include other battery powered, portable and or body worn, public safety devices in response to a request from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) ESE committee. It will also collect, review and assess the input from early adopters of the standard who have or are going through the certification process for the first time.
The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to Land Mobile Radio manufacturers and users. TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities. For more information about TR-8 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Marianna Kramáriková at standards@tiaonline.org.
A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees. On the public engineering committee pages, users will find recent meeting reports, agendas and notices for upcoming meetings, as well as links to some of the most popular standards from each committee. TIA is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Visit tiaonline.org.
