Description:

TIA seeks an experienced communications professional to assist in executing its external affairs strategy to drive greater member value and raise awareness of the association and its members. The Manager of Communications & External Affairs is responsible for stewarding the TIA brand to internal and external audiences and will work to increase awareness of TIA’s communities of interest and strategic campaign initiatives. S/he will help execute the strategy for all communications-related activities by deploying tactics in public relations, media relations, public affairs, digital and social media and content marketing.

The ability to research, synthesize, and centralize messages across multiple communications platforms, to different audience segments and stakeholders is a key function. The position requires daily collaboration and coordination with all TIA departments and staff members, outside consultants, members of the media, as well as member companies. S/he is a member of the External Affairs team and reports to TIA’s Senior Director for External Affairs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the creation and execution of an internal and external communications strategy that increases awareness of TIA’s mission, achieves greater member value, and helps drive member engagement across communities of interest; leveraging tactics specific to public affairs, media relations, public relations, marketing, digital and social media, etc.
     
  • Develops and manages an editorial calendar of communications-related content for the association across departments and coordinates the timing of disseminating that information externally.
     
  • Drafts written communications materials that promote the technology, standards, policy and business initiatives of TIA, including such items as member newsletters, executive-level talking points, Board reports, PowerPoint Presentations, podcasts, original articles / blogs, varied marketing materials including HTML emails, statements/advisories, web content, factsheets, social media posts, etc.
     
  • Field press inquiries and liaise with TIA leadership and outside consultants on appropriate press responses.
     
  • Represents the association at TIA events, industry conferences, informal partnership and member meetings, and other activities.
     
  • Assists in webpage maintenance—ensures that new and consistent information is posted regularly to TIAonline.org using Drupal and Word Press CMS.
     
  • Monitor ICT industry and member news stories to be highlighted in TIA’s communications channels.
     
  • Generate quarterly reports on performance and effectiveness of content across all communications channels.
     
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Communications, journalism, marketing or related major).
     
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, with attention to detail.  3-5 years’ experience desired, with specific practice in writing content for multiple communications platforms. Prior agency or trade association experience a plus.
     
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines. Must demonstrate resourcefulness and a proven willingness to take initiative, bring new ideas to the table, and be accountable for results.
     
  • Ability to synthesize and summarize large amounts of information and to focus quickly on the essence of an issue, as well as to identify, understand, and address different perspectives.
     
  • Has a commitment to member service and quality work product; Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
     
  • Experience using content management systems, i.e. Word Press and/or Drupal CMS, Hootsuite, etc. a plus.
     
  • Ability to collaborate as well as work as an independent contributor; flexible in working varied and additional hours based on business needs and deadlines.
     
  • Some travel may be required. (10%)

Description:

TIA seeks an experienced marketing specialist to create and implement strategic marketing campaigns that support the growth of the associations products and services, drive greater member value, and increase awareness of and engagement in the association and its communities of interest. Campaigns are strategic and multi-touch using the numerous communications and marketing channels such as email, webinars, digital and social media, advertising, events, partner and member networks, and both gated and syndicated content.

The Marketing Manager assists with executing the overall strategy for external affairs by managing and optimizing campaigns across touchpoints and within defined audience segments to help drive the sales pipeline and communications. S/he coordinates closely with the Communications Manager, Programs Department Community Leaders, Membership and Business Operations and to ensure consistency in message and content placement.

S/he is responsible for researching current marketing trends and determining which types of products or services are in demand by our diverse member communities, prospective members, and key stakeholders. S/he is a member of the External Affairs team and reports to TIA’s Senior Director for External Affairs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the creation and coordination of multi-channel strategic marketing campaigns to advance the association’s key messages, increase engagement among communities of interest, and educate and inform on TIA products and services across a variety of platforms and defined audience segments.
  • Assists in the creation and execution of an overall external affairs strategy that increases awareness of TIA’s mission, achieves greater member value, and helps drive member engagement across communities of interest; leveraging tactics specific to campaign-based marketing, advertising, digital and social media, quantitative analysis, etc.
     
  • Develops and manages an editorial calendar of marketing-related content for the association across departments and coordinates the timing of disseminating that information externally.
     
  • Drafts a variety of written communications and marketing materials that promote the business initiatives, technology, standards, and policy divisions of TIA, including such items as mass emails, newsletters, PowerPoint Presentations, blogs, wide-ranging marketing materials such as brochures, reports and conference handouts, talking points, web content, and social media posts, etc.
     
  • Responsible for marketing TIA products, services and events via email marketing campaigns specifically; Drafting written copy, selecting images, building and editing templates and utilizing a content management system and membership database to send communications externally, asses their effectiveness and adjust future email campaigns accordingly. They are also responsible for working closely with the Data Systems lead to manage list(s) of email contacts for TIA.
     
  • Represents the association at TIA events, industry conferences, informal partnership and member meetings, and other activities.
     
  • Delivers regular marketing campaign reports and insights tied to sales leads and pipeline forecasting.
     
  • Works closely with outside consultants and the Communications Manager to develop consistent brand awareness of TIA as well as generate potential business leads via multiple marketing channels. 
     
  • Keeps current with all the latest member/prospective member company and industry happenings.
     
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field preferred.
     
  • 3-5 years of marketing experience desired; working with multi-channel campaigns, platforms, campaign analytics. Prior trade association or tech/telecom industry experience a plus.
     
  • Basic layout skills using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign preferred but not necessary.
     
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, with attention to detail.
     
  • Sincere commitment to member service, working collaboratively with all constituent groups and across internal departments, and producing a quality work product; Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
     
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives and is results-driven. Flexible in working varied and additional hours based on business needs and deadlines.

Location:        Arlington, VA

Description:

The TIA Principal NFV Engineer defines and expands the Technology and Standards technical program offerings and portfolio specifically for NFV and SDN technologies.  Works with current team to ensure improved, relevant technology programs that support member needs.  Seeks to increase revenue streams through the development of outputs; white papers, webinars, presentations, etc.  Evaluate current standardization and product development efforts to determine gaps and enhance value. Works in a committee and team environment with both members and staff to ensure that member and industry needs are being met.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Develop TIA program offerings in support of NFV technology deployments

  • Research new and existing programs and technology areas for development. Engage members for appropriate leadership roles and participation in these activities and initiatives.
  • Develop gap analyses, white papers, use cases and other documents to provide member value in the area of NFV.
  • Provide technical expertise to support certification programming
  • Provide technical and operational leadership for future NFV assessment and/or certification activities.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with technical management consultants to TIA
  • Research and solicit new member companies for participation in programs
  • Collaborate with other organizations and associations to ensure unique and needed offerings are developed

B. Develops outreach documents and activities that are technology specific

  • Provide reporting and analysis of standardization projects defined in collaboration with supervisor.
  • Report on and present, as needed, technology analysis
  • Develop articles and content on the impact of and advances in NFV, SDN and other areas relevant to the changing network

C. Lead and collaborate across TIA organization to achieve technology and overall TIA goals  

D. Travels nationally and internationally, as requested, in support of job duties.

E. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • BSEE/BSCS degree or equivalent experience; business and/or marketing experience a plus
  • 8+ years ICT industry experience
  • Experience in business development a plus
  • Knowledge of information and communications technology industry essential
  • Knowledge of 3GPP and other SDO standards, protocols, procedures and implementation
  • Superior communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Expert-level skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other related software applications
