Data Center Market & Technology Trends: Evolution or Revolution?
Petabytes of data are streaming over fiber lines into data centers around the world. Ever increasing connectivity and data streams created by Smart Cities, eHealth, connected retail, connected vehicles, augmented and virtual reality, video and OTT services increasingly put pressure on data center pipes and designs. These are exciting times for data centers as they contemplate how they will address the quickly changing data management marketplace. This review of market trends in data demand, customer needs, business model changes will shape the perspective of of how data centers can view and strategize for the future.
Keynote:
James Coe, Senior Principal and Director of Critical Facilities, Syska Hennessy Group

Hyperscale Data Centers: Re-architecting for Bandwidth and Speed
Creating what is known as a Hyperscale Data Center, which is defined by Gartner as a single location housing over 50,000 servers, relies on a confluence of hardware and software systems rearchitected to streamline the flow of data while continually reducing latency in and minimizing power costs. Hardware, including server sizes and components, fiber trunks, connectors, switches, are continually being redeveloped for optimization. Software virtualization and cloud management are increasingly becoming a part of data center operational configurations. Long-haul interconnect between data centers and metro center interconnects expedite external communication flows. This panel will review the latest in hardware, physical infrastructure, and software technology development, and how data center design is changing to maximize throughput.

Optimization and Speed: Two Critical Standards Enabling Next Generation Networks
Of critical impact to the ICT industry are the standards that make communications systems fast to deploy and providing quality service. In 2005, just as cloud computing started creating a buzz, TIA members were already working and releasing the first standard addressing Data Center design and function. You’ll receive a preview on the updated standard to be published in 2017. Additionally, to meet the continued demand for higher bandwidth within the Data Center, TIA has just recently published a standard on the next generation of multimode fiber that will support incredible data rates. Take a deep-dive with us and learn about the specifications and applications for wideband multimode fiber.

Data Center Security: Protecting the Cyber and Physical Plant
As repositories of valuable and sensitive information, security of data centers is one of the most important operational areas of concern. The physical plant itself needs protection from intrusion and attack. As cyber physical systems, data centers are vulnerable from both external hacks, such as shutting off of electricity, and internal data cyber attacks, among others. This panel will discuss the varying degrees security being implemented to protect data centers against attacks today and against tomorrow’s prospectively more sophisticated threats.
Speakers:
Steve Orrin, Chief Technologist, Intel Corporation Federal Division and Intel Federal, LLC
Keynote
The Changing Data Center Market: Market & Product Blurring of Retail and Wholesale Colocation
This interactive presentation details how attributes from retail and wholesale colocation are forming a new paradigm in data center services. As companies scale to meet the demands of the digital economy, and corporate goals of sustainability and security—yet still reduce Total Cost of Ownership—it is changing what they need from data center service providers.

Chip Freund, Director, Colocation Product Marketing, CenturyLink

The Growing Role of SDN in Data Center Operations
With petabytes of data streaming over dynamically configuring networks which direct and redirect data traffic to minimize latency and maximize throughput, data centers must optimize their data management systems. Network configurations both internal and external to the data center are increasingly becoming software defined networks. Data centers are also turning to SDN for better operations of their systems, such as power management. SDN also allows for new business models to be introduced that meet customer needs more effectively. This panel will look at the multiple ways SDN is having impact on how data centers manage their operations and their business.
