In March 2014 TIA nominated John Oblak, VP Standards and Regulatory affairs at EF Johnson Technologies, to be recognized by ANSI for his extraordinary leadership in the development and application of voluntary standards. After receiving strong support from industry, TIA submitted the documentation to ANSI.

John Oblak is one of the few people who have had so much influence and contributed so much toward the development of well over 100 documents supporting the Project 25 Suite of Standards, within his active participation of Land Mobile Radio standards for decades. John consistently demonstrated in-depth technical knowledge combined with genuine personal integrity.

We're pleased to inform you that our TR-8 former chairman Mr. John Oblak was selected as the 2014 Finegan Standards Medal recipient.

On behalf of TIA and TR-8 participants, I would like to add our congratulations on this accomplishment and thank John Oblak for many contributions to TR-8, TIA, ANSI and the U.S. and international standardization system.
