TIA in Geneva, Switzerland to Support Expansion of WTO Information Technology Agreement

ARLINGTON, VA (July 15, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), as part of the High-Tech Trade Coalition, is in Geneva, Switzerland this week as part of the High-Tech Trade Coalition to support the U.S. government as it works with delegations from around the world to finalize expanded product coverage of the WTO Information Technology Agreement (ITA). 

“The significant U.S. industry presence reinforces the high expectation this will be the final round of negotiations for the updating and expanding one of the most commercially significant trade agreements for the ICT industry,” said TIA President Grant Seiffert.  “The ITA eliminates tariffs on a broad array of ICT products, thereby lowering the cost and enhancing the diffusion of ICT products globally.  We urge all delegations to demonstrate ambition and flexibility this week as they work towards broadening the coverage of ICT products under the ITA.”
