TIA Issues Call for Interest on new Project for Wireless Communications Systems --- Performance in Noise- and Interference-Limited Situations --- Part 4: Coverage Modeling of Broadband Networks

Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.

Arlington VA. (June 5, 2014) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-8.18 Engineering Committee on Wireless Systems Compatibility - Interference and Coverage has issued a call for interest for document TSB-88.4 initially titled "Wireless Communications Systems --- Performance in Noise- and Interference-Limited Situations --- Part 4: Coverage Modeling of Broadband Networks".

With the implementation of new broadband Public Safety systems, there is a growing need for design and testing information for such systems. The existing TSB-88 Part 1 covers only narrowband systems. External SDOs cover this only from the standpoint of commercial mobile radio, not from the standpoint of the much more stringent requirements for private mobile radio. TSB-88 Part 4 will advise users on techniques for performing coverage designs of broadband systems in order to meet the stringent requirements of Public Safety, Critical Infrastructure, and other private radio systems.

The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Public Safety users, Critical Infrastructure users, manufacturers, consultants.

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.

For more information about TR-8 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Marianna Kramarikova at standards@tiaonline.org.

A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees. On the public engineering committee pages, users will find recent meeting reports, agendas and notices for upcoming meetings, as well as links to some of the most popular standards from each committee. TIA is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Visit tiaonline.org.
