TIA Issues New Digital Land Mobile Radio Block Encryption Protocol Standard
Arlington, VA (December 02, 2015) – The Telecommunications Industry Association, which develops standards for the information and communications technology industry, has released an updated document, TIA-102.AAAD-B Digital Land Mobile Radio Block Encryption Protocol.
TIA-102.AAAD-B defines the end-to-end encryption service of a system for public-safety Land Mobile Radio communications. These systems include portable radios for hand held operation, mobile radios for vehicular operation, base stations for fixed installations, and other fixed equipment for wide area operation and console operator positions, as well as computer equipment for data communications. The standard defines the means for this equipment to send and receive encrypted digital information, in the form of either voice or data (i.e. non-voice) messages.
TIA-102.AAAD-B Block Encryption Protocol describes how to apply block encryption techniques to the end-to-end voice and data signaling that’s essential to mission-critical land-mobile radio communications. Revision B is a 5-year has some modest changes to terminology that enables the interoperable block encryption processing for FDMA and TDMA signaling.
TIA-102.AAAD-B was formulated under the cognizance of the TIA TR-8 Mobile and Personal Private Radio Standards, TR-8.3 Encryption subcommittee.
For more information about TR-8 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Marianna Kramarikova at standards@tiaonline.org.
TIA actively seeks participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
