TIA Issues Call for Interest on FOCIS 18- Fiber Optic Connector Intermateability Standard Type MPO-16

Arlington VA. (July 20, 2016) – The Telecommunications Industry Association's (TIA) TR-42.13 Engineering Committee on Passive Optical Devices and Fiber Optic Metrology today has issued a call for interest for document ANSI/TIA-604-18-A, initially titled FOCIS 18- Fiber Optic Connector Intermateability Standard Type MPO-16.

TIA’s TR-42.13 committee is developing guidelines that will revise the existing FOCIS-18 standard to add both up-angle and down-angle polished plugs, and active device receptacles, mates to non-angled plugs and down-angled plugs, for ferrules with one fiber row and two fiber rows.

The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: - manufacturers and users of fiber optics cables.

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
