TIA Issues Call for Interest for New Project for
Fixed Station Interface Messages and Procedures

Arlington VA. (October 21, 2016) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks that develops voluntary standards for the information and communications technology (ICT) industry, today has issued a call for interest to open a new project, TIA-102.BAHA-A, Fixed Station Interface Messages and Procedures.

TIA’s Engineering Subcommittee TR-8.19 for Wireline System Interfaces is developing the revised guidelines to correct errors in the originally published standard and adding new functionality to the specification such as transmitter steering and support for packet data.

Key stakeholders for this specification include manufacturers, developers, testers, system administrators, and users of Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems that utilize the Fixed Station Interface - which specifies a set of mandatory messages supporting digital voice, data, encryption and telephone interconnect necessary for communication between a Fixed Station and P25 RF Subsystem.

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities. For more information about TIA’s Engineering Committee TR-8 for and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Marianna Kramarikova at standards@tiaonline.org.
