TIA Issues a Call for Interest on New Project for FOTP-231 IEC 61315 – Calibration of Fibre-Optic Power Meters

Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.

Arlington VA. (November 05, 2014) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.13 Engineering Committee on Passive Optical Devices and Fiber Optic Metrology has issued a call for interest for document TIA-455-231 initially titled FOTP-231 IEC 61315 – Calibration of Fibre-Optic Power Meters. This international standard is applicable to instruments measuring radiant power emitted from sources which are typical for the fibre-optic communications industry. It describes the calibration of power meters to be performed by calibration laboratories or by power meter manufacturers.

The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Manufacturers and users of Fiber Optics Cables.

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
