TIA Issues Call for Interest on new Project for IEC 61290-6-1: Optical Fibre Amplifiers – Basic Specification Part 6-1: Test Methods for Pump Leakage Parameters – Optical Demulplexer
Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.
Arlington VA. (December 18, 2014) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.11 Engineering Committee on Optical Systems has issued a call for interest for document TIA/EIA-455-212 initially titled IEC 61290-6-1: Optical Fibre Amplifiers – Basic Specification Part 6-1: Test Methods for Pump Leakage Parameters – Optical Demulplexer. TR-42.11 is developing guidelines that this part of IEC 61290 applies to optical fibre amplifiers (OFAs) using active fibres, containing rare-earth dopants, presently commercially available. The object of this standard is to establish uniform requirements for accurate and reliable measurements, by means of the optical demultiplexer test method, of the following OFA parameters, as defined in clause 3 of IEC 61291-1: a) pump leakage to output; b) pump leakage to input.
The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Optical Fiber Manufacturers, Developers and Users.
TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
For more information about TR-42 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Germaine Palangdao at standards@tiaonline.org.
A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees. On the public engineering committee pages, users will find recent meeting reports, agendas and notices for upcoming meetings, as well as links to some of the most popular standards from each committee.
