TIA Issues Call for Interest on New Project for Polarity of Cords and Connectivity Methods Employing Connector Plugs Containing Two Rows of Fibers

Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.

Arlington VA. (May 27, 2015) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.11 Engineering Committee on Optical Systems (568) has issued a call for interest for document TSB-5039 initially titled Polarity of Cords and Connectivity Methods Employing Connector Plugs Containing Two Rows of Fibers. TR-42.11 is developing a Telecommunications Systems Bulletin (TSB) that provides guidance on polarity of cords and connectivity methods exclusively employing connector plugs containing two rows of fibers, in the same manner as described in ANSI/TIA-568-C.0 and ANSI/TIA-568-C.3. This TSB will complement the standards listed below. • ANSI/TIA-568-C.0 Generic Telecommunications Cabling for Customer Premises and its addenda. • ANSI/TIA-568-C.3 Optical Fiber Cabling Component Standard and its addenda."

The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Manufacturers, end-users, installers, designers of optical fiber cabling systems.

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.

For more information about TR-42 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Germaine Palangdao at standards@tiaonline.org.

A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees. On the public engineering committee pages, users will find recent meeting reports, agendas and notices for upcoming meetings, as well as links to some of the most popular standards from each committee.
