TIA Issues Call for Interest on two new Projects for Introduction to Extended Cell High Rate Packet Data (xHRPD) Air Interface Specification

Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.

Arlington VA. (October 7, 2014) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-45.5 Engineering Committee on Spread Spectrum Digital Technology -- Mobile and Personal Communications Standards has issued a call for interest for document TIA-1185.100-A initially titled "Introduction to Extended Cell High Rate Packet Data (xHRPD) Air Interface Specification" and TIA-1185.300-A initially titled "Upper Layers for Extended Cell High Rate Packet Data (xHRPD) Air Interface Specification".

These standards are defining features to be used for disaster scenarios. It includes the development for minimum performance specification for a new band class for IMT-MSS band. It will also clarify that xHRPD can be supported by EPC network.

The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Mobile and Base Station manufacturers.

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
