TIA Issues Calls for Interest on Three Projects for Telephone Terminal Equipment and Transmission Requirements

Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.

Arlington VA. (October 25, 2016) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-41.3 Engineering Committee on Analog and Digital Wireline Terminals has issued a call for interest for the following three standardization projects:

 ANSI/TIA-470.110-E, initially titled "Telecommunications - Telephone Terminal Equipment - Transmission Requirements for Analog Telephones with Handsets". This revision includes changes in document structure, establishment of nominal volume control for all test loops, the addition of receive output level tests, retaining SLR and RLR as a normative annex with reference in main text that allows it to be used, changing frequency response from ERP to Free field, adding 2.7km loop SDNR testing, and addressing 0km 25-35ma testing for ATA usage.  

TIA-470.230-D, initially titled "Telecommunications - Telephone Terminal Equipment - Network Signaling Performance Requirements". This revision to part 230 of the TIA-470 is to refresh current references and align document structure with new versions of the suite.

ANSI/TIA-920.123, initially titled "Transmission Requirements for Digital Interface Communications Devices with Group Speakerphone". Defines guidelines to establish transmission performance requirements for group speakerphone devices that function as narrowband (300 to 3400 Hz), as wideband (100 to 7000 Hz) digital interface communications devices, or as both. Group speakerphones are devices used for individuals in a small to large setting with users at a distance further away than those for personal devices (2 meters or more). Typically, the speaker and microphone are located in the base unit together, but may have satellite microphones that extending out from the center base unit.

The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Manufacturers, specifiers, and users of digital and analog speakerphones, telephones and other communications devices providing voice transmission, regardless of protocol or digital format. Specifiers may include retail equipment buyers, enterprise and government procurement officers, etc.

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
