TIA Issues a New FOTP-225 IEC 61745 End-Face Image Analysis Procedure for the Calibration of Optical Fibre Geometry Test Sets Standard

Arlington, VA (September 24, 2015) – The Telecommunications Industry Association, which develops standards for the information and communications technology industry, has released a new document, TIA-455-225 FOTP-225 IEC 61745 End-Face Image Analysis Procedure for the Calibration of Optical Fibre Geometry Test Sets.

TIA-455-225 specifies requirements which addresses the calibration of measurements made on single-mode fibres only; however, this type of test set may also be used to measure the geometrical parameters of the cores of multimode fibres, but evaluation of uncertainties associated with these measurements is beyond the scope of this standard.

TIA-455-225 was formulated under the cognizance of the TIA TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems, TR-42.13 Passive Optical Devices and Fiber Optic Metrology subcommittee.

For more information about TR-42 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Germaine Palangdao at standards@tiaonline.org.

TIA actively seeks participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.

TIA-455-225 and all TIA standards may be purchased at http://global.ihs.com.
