TIA issues New General Requirements for Standard Test Procedures for Optical Fibers, Cables, Transducers, and other Fiber Optic Components Standard

Arlington, VA (August 28, 2014) – The Telecommunications Industry Association has released a new document, TIA-455-C General Requirements for Standard Test Procedures for Optical Fibers, Cables, Transducers, Sensors, Connecting and Terminating Devices, and other Fiber Optic Components.

TIA-455-C provides uniform procedures for testing fiber optic components intended for, or forming a part of, optical communications and data transmission systems. Neither this document, nor its addenda, provide procedures designed for testing fiber optic systems. For test procedures for fiber optic systems or subsystems, refer to the TIA/EIA-526 series of documents.

TIA-455-C was formulated under the cognizance of the TIA TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems, TR-42.12 Optical Fibers and Cables subcommittee.

For more information about TR-42 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Germaine Palangdao at standards@tiaonline.org.

TIA actively seeks participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.

TIA-455-C and all TIA standards may be purchased at http://global.ihs.com.
