TIA Issues New Guidance for Adhesive Usage in Fiber Optic Components

Arlington, VA (August 05, 2015) – The Telecommunications Industry Association, which develops standards for the information and communications technology industry, has released a new document, TSB-4947 Guidance for Adhesive Usage in Fiber Optic Components.

The TSB-4947,  bulletin provides general information and guidance on adhesive usage for fiber optic components and devices. The primary intent of the document is to present the most commonly observed adhesive usage pitfalls and ways to avoid them. Best practices, issues, and industry challenges relevant to the telecommunications, military, and aerospace sectors are discussed. The bulletin is applicable to fiber optic component reliability. It is written for fiber optic component manufacturers, as well as end-users.

TSB-4947 was formulated under the cognizance of the TIA TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems, TR-42.13 Passive Optical Devices and Fiber Optic Metrology subcommittee.

For more information about TR-42 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Germaine Palangdao at standards@tiaonline.org.
