TIA issues Three New Wireless Communications Systems Informative Bulletins to Improve Radio Performance in Broadband Systems

Arlington, VA (April 10, 2017) – The Telecommunications Industry Association, which develops standards for the information and communications technology industry, has released three a new documents in the TSB-88 suite of standards addressing wireless communication systems for first responders. The following Telecommunications Systems Bulletins are adding performance, coverage and testing for the broadband systems that are soon to be implemented for wireless communication systems that first responders use on a daily basis.

As new broadband Public Safety systems are developed and deployed, it is essential that guidance on the impact of broadband systems interference be provided for these technologies. In addition, there is a growing need for design and testing information for such systems. Other Standards Developing Organizations cover this only from the standpoint of commercial mobile radio, not from the standpoint of the much more stringent requirements for private mobile radio.  The below three TSBs are a part of a whole series of documents working to maximize and efficiently support the expansion of the private mobile radio systems beyond narrowband and into broadband.

TSB-88.3-D-1 Wireless Communications Systems --- Performance in Noise and Interference Limited Situations --- Part 3: Performance Verification

TSB-88.4 Wireless Communications Systems --- Performance in Noise- and Interference-Limited Situations --- Part 4: Coverage Modeling of Broadband Networks

TSB-88.5 Wireless Communications Systems --- Performance in Noise- and Interference-Limited Situations --- Part 5: Coverage Validation of Broadband Networks.

These standards were formulated under the cognizance of the TIA TR-8 Mobile and Personal Private Radio Standards, TR-8.18 Wireless Systems Compatibility - Interference and Coverage subcommittee.

For more information about TR-8 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Marianna Kramarikova at standards@tiaonline.org.

TIA actively seeks participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
