55 Years of Steel Antenna Towers

This year TIA is celebrating the 55th anniversary of the country’s first standard that provides guidance in the design of communications towers. John Erichsen, Principal Structural Engineer at EET and Chair of TIA’s TR-14 engineering committee tells TIA NOW that the ANSI/TIA-222 standard for “Structural Steel Standards for Steel Antenna Towers and Supporting Structures” has a rich history.

TIA's TR-14 Structural Standards for Communication and Small Wind Turbine Support Structures Engineering Committee continues its work on the structural standard with a new revision ANSI/TIA-222-H. It is up for discussion at the next scheduled meeting which is taking place on October 29th at the Raleigh/Durham Research Triangle.
